Al Manar Language School was founded on September 15, 1992. It was established by Mrs. Khadija Abdul Wahab. It was founded to meet the need for a high quality private Language School in Ismailia. It is located in a primarily residential area in an area known as the school district. It is surrounded by four other schools. Al Manar is the largest of these schools offering classes from Nursery to Secondary in the National system, IGCSE and American systems.
The school was originally started with KG1, KG 2 and Primary One. The proposal was to start a good school from the foundation and up. It was financially probable to open all the grades at one time, but school administration felt that it was more educationally sound to start small, choose the best teachers available and build on that premise. The school grew proportionally.
AlManar Language School was designed to attract middle class professional parents who wanted their children to have a good education with the focus on the English Language. The school offers classes from Nursery through Secondary stages in the National Language Curriculum and in the Arabic Curriculum. In the year 2001 the IGCSE, British Secondary School Program, was added. In 2005, at the request of many parents from the National school the American Diploma program was opened with KG 1, KG2 and Grade 10.
The American section works a normal 180 day school year. We start in September and go until the middle of June. We use the four quarter system. We have a full day system.
